The decor of the 3,000-square-foot store reflects the polished, editorial energy of luxury retail in 2025. Although it appears modern, the atmosphere does not rely on passing trends to make a major design statement. Instead, there is a timeless elegance in the color palette and materials used throughout the space. The most prominent shades are burgundy, forest green, and brass. Bold wallpaper, dynamic textures, and geometric forms combine to create a layered environment.
As part of the design, The RealReal collaborated with textile artist Kiva Motnyk of Thompson Street Studio to craft a bespoke installation, adding an artisanal touch. The careful curation is evident, yet nothing appears stuffy or inaccessible. This is a direct reflection of the RealReal’s philosophy that everyone should be able to enjoy luxury goods. High-end retail should be a creative, personalized shopping experience, not intimidating or simply transactional. Vintage pieces are also peppered throughout the space, emphasizing sustainability and longevity.
The selection of the new location was not a difficult decision. According to Samantha McCandless, The RealReal’s Chief Merchandising Officer, the decision to open a permanent location in Summit felt like a natural next step: “We’ve been running pop-up events here for years and have built an incredible community of consignors and luxury shoppers. Given the demand, it only made sense to put down roots with a permanent store — a new way for us to connect and grow in the Northeast.”
