A plan to convert a vacant car sales and auto body shop into a sprawling cannabis destination has been given the green light as a new business called Smoking Classics hopes to open in Newark this summer.

Officials recently approved a plan to overhaul a 26,000-square-foot property at 255-263 Elizabeth Avenue into the city’s latest dispensary, which hopes to redefine the way Newark experiences cannabis. Smoking Classics hopes to be more than just a dispensary by offering immersive experiences and educational space.

Owned and operated by two Newark natives, Smoking Classics aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and inviting environment where enthusiasts and newcomers alike can explore the world of cannabis.

In addition to quality cannabis products spanning premium flower strains to top-notch concentrates, edibles, topicals, and more, Smoking Classic promises to host regular workshops, seminars, and educational events to help demystify cannabis negative misconceptions.

“Smoking Classics is more than just a dispensary; it’s a lifestyle,” says Aamir Williams, Executive of Operations. “We want to provide a welcoming space where people can explore the diverse world of cannabis, from its therapeutic benefits to the joy of recreational use. Our team is excited to become an integral part of Newark’s vibrant culture.”

The company hopes to be up and running sometime during the summer months, although an exact date has not been announced. Smoking Classics recently launched their website and can be followed on Instagram at the handle @smokingclassicsinc.
