Over 200 rental apartments and ground-floor retail broke ground on Route 28 in Roselle Park. Located at 610 West Westfield Avenue and less than one mile from the Garden State Parkway, the Meridia on Westfield is being developed by Capodagli Property Co., and the first phase is expected to be completed by 2019.

“Today is the biggest thing that has hit this town in 50 years,” Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson said at the groundbreaking. “Probably within the next year or year and a half, you’re going to see so much improvement.”

Meridia will feature 212 rental apartments, a restaurant/bar among the retail, fitness center, private party rooms, pet care, and a garage. Each apartment will be outfitted with high-end appliances and finishes. The development was designed by CPA Architecture and will be overseen by March Associates Construction Inc.

Roselle Park expects Meridia to be the first of several developments to bolster its burgeoning economic boom. Developer Capodagli’s approach is to “build to the middle” which has inspired construction across the state in less than obvious locations.

“There are a lot of people in the middle,” said Managing Member George Capodagli. “There’s more of us in the middle than there are at the top or bottom, and that’s who we build for. That’s important.” Mr. Capodagli also added, “Each Meridia property is designed with the community’s needs in mind.”
