Family entertainment chain NRG Adventure Park is opening a new location in Paramus. The group, known for its family-friendly ninja courses, ziplines, and trampoline park sports, recently signed a lease for 59,000 square feet at Paramus Park South.

A report in RE-NJ said the entertainment chain will occupy a retail pad located above Stew Leonard’s at 700 Paramus Park, which used to be a 169,000-square-foot Sears store.

Jamie Sackeim of Atlanta, Georgia-based brokerage firm TSCG represented the owners of the retail center, Heidenberg Properties Group, Red Starr Investments, Norse Realty Group and DAG Paramus, while Jerry Welkis and Stephan Miller of New Rochelle-based brokerage firm Welco Realty represented NRG in the lease negotiations.

NRG’s new location, expected to open by 2027, will give it exposure to more than 138,000 daily vehicles along New Jersey Route 17 as well as thousands of commuters on the Garden State Parkway. The Paramus location will be the chain’s second, after it opened a park in Springfield.

According to its website, the chain has one other location currently open in Fargo, North Dakota, and is actively working to open nearly 20 other locations around the country, including one other location in New Jersey in Toms River.

A listing from Welco Realty says the brokerage firm is actively scouting for new locations for NRG in the New York metro area, North and Central New Jersey, the Philadelphia area, and Lower Connecticut.

The new lease in Paramus reflects a sizeable boost for the landlords at 700 Paramus Park, which acquired the property in 2025, nearly six years after Stew Leonard’s opened its first New Jersey location there.

Sears anchored the 169,000-square-foot commercial building from 1974 until 2017, according to a report in NorthJersey.com. In 2017, the then-owners of the commercial building submitted an application to the Paramus zoning board that would have allowed Stew Leonard’s to operate on the first floor and a 12-screen movie theater with a bar and lounge to occupy the upper floors of the former department store.

An update on the board’s approval from June 2018 says Stew Leonard’s added an additional 20,000-square-foot office and employee space, bringing its total occupancy to more than 100,000 square feet. The supermarket opened a storefront totaling 80,000 square feet in September 2019, according to a report in Patch Paramus. Paramus Park South is also home to a 21,900-square-foot medical center operated by Atlantic Health Systems.
