An NFL franchise that has called the New Jersey Meadowlands home since the 1970s will be upgrading and expanding their headquarters and practice facility over the next two years.
The New York Giants have announced plans to expand and transform their team headquarters in East Rutherford, which sits across several parking lots from the team’s shared home of MetLife Stadium. The revamped digs will be anchored by a new and modern football-focused facility designed to elevate player performance, preparation, and recovery.
The current Quest Diagnostics Training Center will continue to serve as the hub of the Giants’ business and football operations during the renovation and expansion. The project is designed by Ewing Cole, who were also the architects behind MetLife Stadium.
“This is a significant investment in the future of our football operation,” said Giants President and CEO John Mara. “We believe it is our responsibility to provide our players, coaches, and staff with the resources and environment they need to succeed. As the game continues to evolve, we must continue to evolve with it.”
Natoli Construction Corp. will be handling the buildout of the project, which includes approximately 93,500 square feet of new construction and 46,000 square feet of renovations. Key enhancements include an expanded locker room spanning more than 6,000 square feet and a state-of-the-art weight room with more than 11,000 square feet that includes a nutrition bar and cardio mezzanine overlooking the indoor field.
The expansion space will include an advanced sports medicine and rehabilitation space that will triple the current footprint of that portion in addition to integrated recovery and wellness areas like hydrotherapy, steam, sauna, red light therapy, cryotherapy, dry float tanks, and hyperbaric chambers.
The endeavor will also create modernized player and team-focused areas aimed to support preparation throughout the week. The project is expected to be completed in advance of the 2028 NFL season.
The Giants have called East Rutherford home since 1976, when the team relocated across the Hudson River from Yankee Stadium. MetLife Stadium opened in 2010, a facility that recently hosted the World Cup Final and is shared during the NFL season with the New York Jets.
