A Somerset County town will be getting a new major mixed-use complex next year that will create new homes and several massive retail spaces including a Whole Foods Market and a plethora of new restaurants.

Montgomery Promenade, a 54-acre project at the intersection of Route 206 and Route 518, broke ground last September. The endeavor is a modern retail, dining and entertainment center being built by Atlanta-based SJC Ventures, with March Associates Construction managing construction.

Situated just north of Princeton Airport, Montgomery Promenade will consist of 280,000 square feet of commercial space plus 34 single-family homes when completed. The architectural layout of the project includes an acre of green outdoor community space for public events along with dining and entertainment options.

The project’s first phase, which is currently underway, consists of 11 retail buildings plus 29 residential homes, while the second phase will include five retail buildings along with five single-family homes.

Montgomery Promenade is slated to include a modern movie theatre, banking services and a daycare facility along with 1,499 parking spaces. Perhaps the most high-profile business confirmed for the property is Whole Foods, which will be the anchor tenant of the project’s first phase.

Several other restaurants have been confirmed for the property including More Than Q Barbeque, which has a location in Lambertville. Tim McLoone’s Iron Whale and Robinson Ale House will also be joining in on the fun, as will the breakfast-heavy Turning Point.

Retail stores that have signed leases at the upcoming complex include Hair Cuttery Family of Brands, Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming, Ulta Beauty, European Wax Center, Spavia, Dor L’ Dor NYC, and Norman’s Hallmark.

The first phase of Montgomery Promenade, which has been in the planning phases for over 15 years, is anticipated to open sometime early next year.
