A one-hour interactive journey based on the best-selling video game ever will open in November at American Dream in East Rutherford.
Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue will go beyond the screen, letting users become part of the story-driven mission, according to Experience MOD and Mojang Studios.
The touring venue opens November 13 for a limited engagement at American Dream. The Villager Rescue interactive game is also offered in Chicago, Mexico City, Singapore, Vienna, and Oberhausen, Germany.
“Working alongside a team of fellow adventurers, they embark on an interactive, story-driven mission through eight Minecraft realms, collecting resources and encountering iconic mobs,” the announcement says.
“Armed with only their wit and an Orb of Interaction – a glowing interactive handheld device that guides each user through the experience – groups will embark on a journey in search of the resources needed to craft a life-saving potion,” the announcement explained.
Minecraft Experience builds on Minecraft’s popularity, which has sold more than 350 million units, according to Guinness World Records. Minecraft, which launched as a free game in 2009, requires players to gather resources, deal with hostile mobs, and build things.
Tickets go on sale on October 1. Single-ticket prices start at $36.
No prior knowledge of the Minecraft game is needed to play through the interactive exhibit.
