A cutting-edge space from the Girl Scouts to help girls to discover and create has launched with the first New Jersey location of their DreamLab concept.
Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey (GSCSNJ) have officially launched the DreamLab inside the Shoppes at North Brunswick at 650 Shoppes Blvd. The facility is just the third of its kind in the nation and the initial endeavor on the East Coast following DreamLab outposts in Colorado and Louisiana.
DreamLab bills itself a “state-of-the-art space designed to empower girls and provide endless opportunities for exploration.” The space provides an environment to pursue a wide variety of passions ranging from STEM projects, podcasting, performing on stage, or conquering a bouldering wall.
“The DreamLab concept was developed with input from Girl Scouts all over the country,” says Ginny Hill, CEO of GSCSNJ. “We want this space to be versatile, serving as a hub for everything from working on badges and journeys to hosting troop meetings and assisting with Gold or Silver Award projects.”
Over 100 community leaders including Governor Phil Murphy attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, which took place in September. The North Brunswick location sport amenities like a state-of-the-art podcast and video booth, an indoor camping area, essential Girl Scout retail, and plenty of space for large or small group gatherings and collaborative projects.
Starting soon, local Girl Scout troops can reserve the DreamLab for meetings and activities. It will also serve as a home for partner programs, badge workshops, and community service projects.
The facility is also open to members of the community but is closed on Sundays. Their operating hours run Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., staying open on Fridays and Saturdays until 8 p.m.
