Three parcels in East Orange that sit adjacent to each other could become home to the Essex County city’s latest residential development.

A developer submitted an application to East Orange’s municipal government involving a 17,511-square-foot site at 278, 284, and 288 North Oraton Parkway, according to a notice of hearing. The notice says that a building with 32 residential units and 33 parking spaces is being proposed for the premises.

Site plans show that this five-story development would include a gym, a dozen one-bedroom units, 16 two-bedroom units, and four three-bedroom units.

The name of the applicant was not listed in the notice, but the application names Parkway Flats, LLC of Jersey City as the applicant. Tax filings list the LLC as the owner of the three tracts, with filings from the New Jersey Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services indicating that a firm of that name was incorporated out of Jersey City in 2019.

The three properties are located on the east side of the Garden State Parkway near where North Oraton Parkway and Parkway Drive split. The closest public transportation option is New Jersey Transit’s 41 bus to Downtown Newark and Orange, which stops at the corner of Park Avenue and North Oraton Parkway.

The East Orange Planning Board is scheduled to hear this application during a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, January 13, at 7:30 p.m., according to the notice. The developer is seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval with a number of variances.

Note to readers: The dates that applications are scheduled to be heard by the East Orange Planning Board and other commissions are subject to change.
