For close to a decade, the sign in front of Terry Tire Co. in Guttenberg has stated that the business has been “serving the area for 32 years.” However, the automotive garage, which is situated on 69th Street between Bergenline and Palisade Avenues, might not serve the area in its current location for much longer should a new proposal continue to advance.

The block’s first mid-rise multi-family residential development is being planned for the Terry Tire site along with neighboring tracts at 416-422 69th Street. A legal notice from Town Hall states that if approved, the new building could include 24 apartments with 24 parking spaces provided on the premises. The structure would be four stories tall, making it one of the tallest on the block.

Demetrios Kaltsis of Kaltsis Architecture, LLC in North Bergen is listed on town records as the project architect while Anthony Oliveri is the applicant.

The properties are within a block of Anna L. Klein Elementary School, the bustling Bergenline Avenue business district, and New Jersey Transit bus service to Hoboken, Jersey City, Bergen County, and Manhattan. In addition to Terry Tire, they contain a house, driveway, and garage. NJ Parcels records show that all four sites are owned by Sergio Triches, with three being co-owned by Marilyn Triches.

The plans, which come amid other proposals for this corridor, were slated to be heard by the Guttenberg Joint Planning/Zoning Board during its meeting on June 18. The developer sought Site Plan approval for the development with variances such as use, front yard setback, and height.
