The industrial sector of Newark will be gaining a new state-of-the-art vertical cold storage complex after the green light was given late last year to a 160-foot-tall automated cold storage warehouse in the East Ward.
Garden State Cold Storage, an affiliate of the Ruggiero Seafood, has revealed the look of their upcoming 156,000-square-foot project at 474 Wilson Avenue. The company secured a lease for the seven-acre property through Advance Industrial Group and will construct a facility that utilizes cutting edge automation to get the most out of the future space.

The company recently released renderings of the project, which will rise in the shadow of the New Jersey Turnpike. The development is set to include 124,000 square feet of refrigerated and freezer warehouse space along with 28,000 square feet of loading areas.
Garden State Cold Storage anticipates adding 150 new jobs through the expansion and told NJBIZ that it will put a strong emphasis to hire local Newark residents. The future facility will be located near Newark Liberty International Airport, Port Newark, and several major highways.
