A 196-unit apartment complex on Route 73 in Pennsauken, Camden County, on largely wooded land in a redevelopment area was approved by the Pennsauken Planning Board.
Centurion Residences at Pennsauken will consist of two four-story buildings, one with 93 units and the other with 103 units, according to plans submitted with the application for preliminary and final site plan approval.
The board memorialized the resolution on July 7 after a unanimous vote on April 28. No public comments were received about developing the 1550 Route 73 property, which is near Pennsauken High School.
The designated redeveloper of the site is Centurion Penn 1550 Urban Renewal LLC of Union, New Jersey. The property is owned by Pennview Partners LLC of Media, Pennsylvania. The project will be developed by American Landmark.
Most of the wooded area of the site will be removed, with some open space designated along Pennsauken Creek, which neighbors the property, according to application documents.
“Long-term impacts to the site include an increase in impervious surfaces and the loss of woodland vegetation and associated wildlife habitat,” according to the environmental impact statement prepared by EcolSciences Inc. of Rockaway, New Jersey.
The complex will feature one- and two-bedroom units.
A recreational courtyard and swimming pool will be among the amenities. The site will have 349 parking stalls, according to the application.
