Municipalities often sell properties they’ve acquired over time, but the lot that Bob Dann of Tranzon is auctioning for Middletown, Monmouth County, stands out in its singularity.
“It’s very rare that a beachfront lot comes to market, let alone a little over an acre,” Dann said of the 1.17-acre lot at Hegel Place and Ideal Beach with views of New York City. The property is zoned residential and could be subdivided into three lots, he told Jersey Digs.
The auction closes next Wednesday, August 19th.
Dann is also auctioning two other Middletown properties in sales that end on Wednesday.
A corner commercial lot in the Port Monmouth section of town that once housed a liquor store and is now used for commuter parking is for sale. The 0.9-acre lot is at Route 36 and Wilson Avenue and zoned for business, including retail and other commercial uses.
A 0.22-acre lot on Bayview Terrace in the Monmouth Hills section of town in the Water Witch Club also is being auctioned. Zoned residential, the property may present a challenge to develop, Dann said.
The auctions close every 15 minutes next Wednesday between 1 and 1:30 p.m.
Dann said valuing a home being sold at auction is more straightforward than selling lots. It’s difficult to know what a lot is worth, he added.
