KFC could just as easily stand for Korean Fried Chicken now that the double-fried, delectably crispy chicken has become a complete craze. New Jersey-based, Korean fried chicken restaurant Roosterspin takes credit for the craze and their “super crispy, yet greaseless and exceptionally moist” menu is now available in New Brunswick directly across the street from the NJT train station.
The New Brunswick location is the first Roosterspin with a full liquor license and it made full use of the full bar by calling on mixologists Pamela Wiznitzer and Luis Hernandez from New York’s Seamstress to develop the cocktail menu. Highlights include the Jersey Get Down, a hard iced tea, and Morning Call, a fiery tequila-based cocktail.
“We are proud and excited to expand Roosterspin to New Brunswick,” said Mihae Cho, the restaurant’s owner and operator. “It is a city on the move with a burgeoning food and drinks scene.” Roosterspin’s first location opened in 2014 in Westfield, New Jersey, near the NJT train station as well.
The New Brunswick Roosterspin has a few new food items like seafood pancake, bibimbap, and jap chae. The build-out is “industrial-chic theme with metal tubing and hand-stained distressed wood,” according to Roosterspin. But the singular feature of the New Brunswick location is the collection of 7,000 records, two karaoke rooms, and often a live DJ.
