Life Time Fitness and an AC Hotel by Marriott are coming to the Somerset Corporate Center in Bridgewater Township, which is owned by SJP Properties.
According to records from the Somerset County Planning Board, LTF Real Estate Company, which is based in Chanhassen, Minnesota, is planning for the Life Time to be a 127,129 square foot location and for it to be three stories tall. It will be located at the corner of Commons Way and Somerset Corporate Boulevard, at the site of a currently vacant lot.
Meanwhile, just a few yards away at the corner of Somerset Corporate Boulevard and Routes 202 and 206, the proposal for the AC Hotel by Marriott calls for it to be seven stories tall with 150 guest rooms inside. In addition, a rooftop bar and grill with 108 seats will be included atop the building, and another restaurant with 245 seats will be included next door. According to renderings posted by project architect Base4, the latter restaurant will be a Zinburger location.
Minutes from the Bridgewater Township Municipal Council show that the hotel will be operated by The Briad Group, which is based in Livingston, Essex County. Construction is expected to begin this year.
“This brand is specifically designed with the executive in mind,” James Ardizzone of The Broad Group told the Council in January, according to the minutes, adding that “the executive can use this hotel for work, entertainment and food in one base.”
Ardizzone also stated that “they anticipate an international clientele because some of the pharmaceutical companies in Bridgewater are based in Europe,” explaining that “Bridgewater is also unique as it is a gateway market where all the highways converge and has many different elements that bring success to a hotel.”
Life Time currently has New Jersey locations in Berkeley Heights, Florham Park, Montvale, and Mount Laurel, and is planning a new club in Plainsboro Township outside Princeton. In addition to fitness equipment, many locations include outdoor and indoor pools with water slides as well as exercise classes. Based in Spain, AC Hotels has been expanding in the United States since it partnered with Marriott six years ago. It does not currently operate any New Jersey hotels, but there are plans for a location in Harrison.
The project was approved with conditions by the Bridgewater Township Planning Board in May.
