A restaurant group that runs several notable dining spots in the Garden State has launched their first Mexican-inspired eatery as Nómada has officially opened its doors in Downtown Verona.
Situated at 700 Bloomfield Avenue between Rockland Terrace, Nómada started serving diners on February 4 out of their renovated space. The restaurant offers a rustic, beach-inspired ambiance that aims to fuse the relaxed natural coastal aesthetics of modern-day Tulum with the lavish eccentricities of Acapulco in the 80s.
Vibrant pops of color are found throughout the restaurant, which is run by Skopos Hospitality. The group is known for other eateries, including Jersey City’s Franklin Social and Clifton’s The Barrow House.

The menu, curated by Executive Chef Sabrina Goncalves, includes highlights like a pozole verde, a braised pork shoulder with cabbage, jalapeño, and lime. The Masa Birria Fries at Nómada blend birria & queso flavors, while their Mojarra Frita consists of a whole fried fish with mojo aioli, jalapeño, and cabbage slaw.

No Tulum-inspired eatery would be complete without a selection of tacos, and Nómada’s menu sports carne asada, birria, al pastor, and carnita de hongo varieties. The bar program at the restaurant focuses on the wide range of tequila, mezcal and other regional agave and sugar cane-based spirits.
