U-Haul International and Deugen Design Build recently announced the groundbreaking of a new, state-of-the-art 125,000-square-foot facility at 210 US 46 in Saddle Brook, replacing an aging facility. The self-storage and truck rental complex is the fifth collaboration between Deugen and U-Haul. Other locations spearheaded by Deugen for U-Haul include those in Orange and Elmwood Park.

Construction is underway and expected to take 14 months with completion projected in late 2025. The new facility will add local jobs and is expected to contribute to economic growth in the area, while providing essential moving and self-storage services for residents as well as tactical and strategic solutions for businesses.

Hoboken-based Deugen is the designated fee developer for the project, charged with navigating the complex layers of the planning and approval process. Architectura out of Fort Lee is leading architectural services while civil engineering duties are being handled by Rutherford-based Stonefield Engineering. Rounding out the project team, Cleary Giacobbe Alfieri Jacobs, LLC is providing legal counsel for all land use matters.

“Breaking ground on this facility is not just a construction milestone; it signifies our commitment to improving community access to reliable storage and moving solutions,” said Eric Gormeley, CEO of Deugen Design Build. “We are excited to partner with U-Haul and our esteemed collaborators to bring this vital resource to life for the Saddle Brook community.”
