Winberie’s, located in downtown Summit, has been closed since December 31, 2017, to allow for renovations. Targeting a late-February reopening date, the restaurant is being changed to tap into the building’s 125-year history, which will create more wood finishes. Other updates include an expanded bar, resurfaced bathrooms, and upgrades to the kitchen.
Winberie’s will still be able to accommodate the same number of guests (142), but the seating arrangement will be different. Of the changes, General Manager Jim Owens says, “People will instantly notice the interior changes that will give our longtime guests and new visitors a comfortable and casual atmosphere to enjoy our food and drink offerings as well as each others’ company.” They do not anticipate holding a grand reopening event but will be excited to welcome guests to the newly remodeled space.
Winberie’s, which serves contemporary versions of American comfort foods, as well as new, creative, hand-crafted recipes, will be expanding their happy hour menu and adding a new daily features section to the menu. Winberie’s Summit was established in 1985 and is affiliated with the Winberie’s in Princeton, New Jersey and Oak Park, Illinois.
