142 Newark Ave’s Modern Facelift

Located on the Newark Ave pedestrian plaza, 142 Newark is a rehabilitation project with a modern addition. The existing 1870’s structure was joined with the vacant lot next door to expand the footprint of the building. The architect, Scott Mahaffey, designed the project in a way that saved the existing facade and then juxtaposed it with a modern glass addition. With the new addition, the building now spans 45 feet, providing incredible exposure along Newark Ave.

Developed by GothamWest, the mixed-use project was built to include a retail space on the ground floor with offices above and 3-bedroom apartments on the higher floors.

Coldwell Banker will be moving into lower 3 floors. Their current space next to Dunkin Donuts on Grove Street will be taken over by Bang Me Bakery’s coffee bar. The top floors will be 3-bedroom rental units.
