With an Access Hollywood hosting job beckoning in California later this summer, Today Show co-anchor Natalie Morales has listed her uptown Hoboken brownstone for sale, a home that has historic charm but also features many modern flashes.
The home, at 1234 Garden Street, has an asking price of $3.1 million. The 5-bedroom, 3½-bath home has 3,600 square feet of interior living space over four levels. Taxes are just under $27,000/year.
Morales and her family have lived in the pre-war charmer since 2002 but completely renovated the property in 2008 under the supervision of renowned architect Peter Johnston.
While much of the house’s interior has been updated, the property, first built in 1901, has several preserved historic details that include the building’s brownstone and limestone facades, a main curved staircase and three working gas-powered fireplaces.
The parlor level’s custom kitchen features floor-to-ceiling bamboo and glass cabinetry, a heated Brazilian slate tile floor and modern, high-end appliances. The property also features a 600 square foot yard that has a play area with an adjustable in-ground basketball hoop in addition to a dining area that has both a custom built-in BBQ island and an artisan Kalamazoo pizza oven.
A “garden level” at the property, which was designed to accommodate guests, has a bedroom, full bathroom, and kitchenette. But for full-time residents, the top floor’s spa-inspired master bathroom is sure to impress. It features a glass enclosed oversized rain shower, mosaic glass tiles, a jetted Zuma soaking tub, a custom designed concrete trough sink, dual powered Robern medicine cabinets, a Runtal towel warmer and a skylight.
All of this for “just” $3.1 million might actually be a relative bargain. Hoboken recently had a Hudson Street brownstone sell for a record-breaking $6.5 million and another restored property at 706 Garden Street just hit the market last month asking $3.95 million.
