A high-rise in Downtown New Brunswick that ranks among the top 20 largest office developments under construction in the United States is slated to open later this spring.

Work is close to completion on what will become the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, which is situated at the intersection of Somerset and Hardenberg Streets. The state-of-the-art, freestanding cancer hospital will feature both outpatient and inpatient capacity and research laboratories and be one of only 13 nationwide when it opens in the coming weeks.

The center is named in recognition of the philanthropic leadership of Jack and Sheryl Morris, who has been a longtime supporter and pillar in New Brunswick development. The 520,000 square foot, 12-story property will include the wide-ranging advanced oncology care services offered by Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health all under one roof.

Developed in partnership with the New Brunswick Development Corporation, the building itself will be a bright, comforting space full of natural light. A retail component will be featured on the ground floor.

The project represents a total $750 million investment in New Brunswick, with funding coming from RWJBarnabas Health, bonds from New Jersey’s Health Care Facilities Financing Authority, and a $25 million grant from Middlesex County

According to a recent study from Commercial Cafe, the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center in New Brunswick ranks as the 17th largest office tower in the pipeline throughout the entire United States.
