An empty property along the Ocean Grove and Asbury Park border, once alive with activity, plans to bring back the hustle and bustle after a new developer purchases the plot.

East Windsor-based TFE Properties has announced they have acquired a vacant beachfront property in Ocean Grove at 4 Boardwalk. The company, which has developed a slew of retail, hotel, and residential properties throughout the Garden State, is hoping to create a new 40,000-square-foot pavilion and retail destination on the land.

The parcel at 4 Boardwalk was once home to the North End Pavilion, Dune’s Boardwalk Café, and a slew of small businesses that were destroyed by a 2019 fire, per reporting from NJ.com. The property is just off Wesley Lake and near Asbury Park’s Carousel Building along a stretch of boardwalk that connects the two beachside destinations.

“This acquisition represents an important milestone for TFE,” said Carey Tajfel, the firm’s president, in a statement. “Ocean Grove’s boardwalk is iconic, and we are honored to invest in a property that holds both historic significance and meaningful potential for the community. We look forward to contributing thoughtfully to the continued vitality of the shoreline.”

TFE says they are aiming to honor the property’s history as part of a new pavilion that would serve residents and visitors. No official plans were disclosed in the company’s announcement, and an application for development has not yet been filed with Ocean Grove.
