A site in Belleville that is no stranger to development proposals is once again the subject of a plan to construct a mixed-use complex.
R&R Belleville Urban Renewal, LLC has plans to bring a residential and commercial building to 630 and 632 Washington Avenue in the suburban Essex County township.
An agenda and a notice of hearing show that the company, which was incorporated in March, is looking to receive preliminary and final major site plan approval in order to construct 268 residential units, around 18,938 square feet of commercial space, and 489 parking spaces.
An “outdoor public plaza above a parking garage structure” would also be included, according to the notice, which adds that R&R Belleville Urban Renewal, LLC has already “been designated by the Township of Belleville as redeveloper of the property.”
On Monday, June 21, the Belleville Planning Board is scheduled to discuss this matter during a special meeting that will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
This is far from the first time that redevelopment has been considered for this former industrial location opposite the Motorcycle Mall.
More than two years ago, Jersey Digs reported on plans for 135 residential units and with 22,225 square feet of retail and restaurant space at the site. Previous proposals have included another version of a 135-unit mixed-use development along with a 34-story building called Imagine Center.
