One of the largest apartment buildings to be proposed for Orange in recent memory could be approved as early as next week.

Jersey Digs has learned that a former official with the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency and the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation has pleaded guilty in connection with an alleged conspiracy involving the Orange Public Library. In part, Franklyn Ore allegedly used money that was supposed to serve low-income families on “entertainment and restaurants.”

A developer’s application calls for bringing a 103-unit project to five properties near the Highland Avenue Station in Orange.

Once a hub of industry in Central Essex County, the City of Orange is beginning to see more redevelopment. Earlier this year, two new projects opened up and now the former F. Berg & Company Hat Factory is being converted into lofts-style condos.

The area immediately surrounding Orange’s main train station is filling up with development.

The next phase of the Indigo 141 project has been approved and could bring 70 additional units near 141 South Harrison Street.

Orange is continuing to see a number of development proposals, especially near its two train stations. Now, a new project with six dozen units is being proposed for the Essex County city.

The revitalization of Orange and West Orange is picking up steam, as construction on the Harvard Printing rental community broke ground this week.

The “Gateway Project” in Orange would bring residential units and a commercial space near the Valley Arts District.

The developers behind the Vermella projects have new complexes in the works near train stations in Orange and Newark along with a site near the Passaic River in Kearny.
