A developer wants to turn office space on the second story of a Bergenline Avenue building into nearly a dozen residential units.

The Spingarn Building in Downtown Newark and the neighboring building at 186 Market Street are each the subject of applications calling for the adaptive reuse of their upper floors into residential uses.

A plan from Stonebridge Capital will add five set-back floors on top of a refurbished three-story building set to include 50 residences and ground-floor retail space.

A restored facade, retail, residential apartments, and perhaps even a theater are part of the plan for the storied structure.

A building on Irving Street in Jersey City that is used for warehousing and commercial purposes could be converted into a 13-unit development.

The old William G. Cook Elementary School currently sits empty in Trenton’s Wilbur Section. Now, City Hall is looking to sell the building to a development firm.

The developer behind the proposed redevelopment and high-rise at the St. Lucy’s Church in Jersey City has made some modifications to the proposal that could soon be approved.

“The arts community has really moved into this area,” Mayor Turner said. “There are small-time artists, painters. If they get 15 by 10 feet of space, they can use it for a boutique. We could have food stores, a sandwich place.”

Paramount Assets will move its headquarters to New Jersey’s largest city, where the company is involved in several development projects.
